STRONGER TOGETHER

A fundamental aspect of The ACPT Network is to ‘Inspire’. With our platform, we aim to inspire aspiring and qualified physiotherapists to educate the Black community in the UK about all things physiotherapy and the importance of health literacy & physical well-being. We aim to raise awareness and the visibility of African & Caribbean physiotherapists in our local community. To reshape the narrative of a historically middle-class caucasian profession to the next generations to come. We know and believe that young people often aspire to pursue careers they can see themselves in. We hope to be the representation that encourages young people within the black community to be physiotherapist….

Our second pillar is to become ‘Models’. We want the ACPT Network to represent the power, skill set and ability of African & Caribbean physiotherapists – we want to be the standard of role modelling for these characteristics. Some of the ways we aim to do this by investing valuable time and resources to our members and local communities. We are passionate about curating and encouraging ‘model’ physiotherapists within our network. From connecting students to work experience opportunities to upskilling and training to improve clinical competence (CPD), excellence and practical skill development. We purpose to empower all physiotherapists to be the best they can be in the field. We strive for this community to be one that positively works together to provide opportunities to progress personally and professional. Whilst uplifting and educating our own to reduce health inequalities and disparities is the current healthcare system…

Finally we plan to ‘Reform’ our community. We believe that at the heart of positive change in our healthcare experiences and our communities is reformation. Our ambition is to implement various strategies of reformation across three levels. The first being healthcare diversity, inclusion, and equality policies as healthcare providers.

We will also be consulting with other organisations & higher-education university institutions to influence equality, diversity and inclusion within educational settings, as well as the workplace. Importantly, we hope to inspire other organisations to recognise the importance of celebrating difference and improving health outcomes for service-users and the entire workforce, of which we believe starts with us. We our #StrongerTogether, because our community was created #ForUsByUS.

REAL ACTION leads to REAL IMPACT.
